This will be a fun and interactive surface embroidery course that is perfect for the first time embroiderer or experienced embroiderer looking for a refresher. We will learn different techniques to stitch flowers and stems and how to stitch on clothes or bags in particular.
A kit is optional and will be available to those who would like one: Kit includes Needle, Muslin fabric, Embroidery thread

New! Introduction to Surface Embroidery - Flower Mandala
Wednesday June 26, 2024 12:30 to 4PM at Lacis
This will be a fun and interactive surface embroidery course that is perfect for the first time embroiderer or experienced embroiderer looking for a refresher. We will learn the Woven Wheel, French Knot, Buttonhole, Lazy Daisy, and Chain stitches. You will learn techniques and tips that you just can’t get from books!
Class fee $45, kit $5 payable to instructor on the day of class. Kit includes Needle, Cotton fabric with printed design, Embroidery thread (this class requires a kit due to the printed design)

Each class in the series will focus on related surface embroidery stitches. There is no design, we focus on learning and practicing stitches. We will also learn history and uses of the different stitches. Take just one class or collect them all!

All About Bullions
Thursday July 25 or Saturday July 27, 2024 time 3:00PM to 6:00PM at Lacis
In this course you will learn how to create embroidered bullion knots. You will also learn how to use them in different designs. There is no set design for this class, just practice and discovery of the bullion knot! Experience threading a needle, tying a knot, and a few embroidered stitches is advised for this class.
Class Fee $45 + $5 kit fee paid to instructor on the day of class. Kit includes Needle, Fabric, and Embroidery Thread (kit is optional, you can use your own supplies if desired. A Millners (AKA straw) needle is recommended.)

Embroidery Lettering
Thursday August 28 or Saturday August 31, 2024 time 12:30PM to 3:30PM at Lacis
In this course you will learn multiple techniques to do embroidery lettering. You will be able to personalize your embroidery with names, dates, poems, statements, any kind of writing you can think of! This class is perfect for beginners or experienced embroiderers alike. You will learn techniques and tips that you just can’t get from books!

Embroidery Magic
Embroidering with Intention
The first Embroidery Magic class was a success! It was unanimous that students wanted 5 days instead of 4 so the next offering will be Monday through Friday. I will teach this again in 2025 but due to interest we are adding another class this year in June.
June 17 to 21 2024, Monday through Friday 10:30AM to 3PM Class Fee $275
In this workshop we will learn the fundamental techniques of surface embroidery and apply them to the ancient art of intention. Throughout history, art and specifically embroidery has been used for protection and/or manifestation with the use of symbolism and color. Even the stitches chosen can have meaning in the overall creation of a magical embroidery. Explore your creative talent within a safe and nurturing community where the joy and healing of needle arts will be embraced. All levels of experience welcome. Note: stitches taught in this class will be different from the Foundation series.
What to bring:
- Lunch (we have 1/2 hour for lunch)
- All embroidery supplies that will make your embroidery experience comfortable. Your own needles, scissors, hoops, portable hands-free stands, etc. (Hoops are available to borrow)
- Any fabric or garment you would like to embroider. (not required)
- Supplies will be available to purchase if needed on an ad hoc basis.
